ClickontheGooglePreviewimageabovetoreadsomepagesofthisbook!Inthemid1970s,LarryMcPhersonmadeaseriesofphotographsofcowsgrazingataMidwesternfarm,inthenaturaloaksavannahsontheIllinois-Wisconsinborder.Theimages,somemadeindaytimeandsomeatnight,capturearangeofbovineactivitiesandmoods,andaclassiclandscape.TheybecamethesubjectofasoloexhibitionattheArtInstituteofChicagoandtraveledwithseveralgroupshows.Thirtyyearslater,thisdistinctiveandinsightfulseriesisinbookformforthefirsttime.Intheinterim,McPherson,borninNewark,Ohio,in1943,haspublishedtwootherphotographicbooks,MemphisandBeirutCityCenter,receivedtwoNationalEndowmentfortheArtsfellowshipsandaGuggenheimfellowship,andhasseenhisworkacquiredformanypubliccollections,includingtheArtInstituteofChicago,theMuseumofFineArtsinHoustonandTheMuseumofModernArt,NewYork.
