W.H.AudenwasborninYorkin1907andbroughtupinBirmingham.Hisfirstbook,Poems,waspublishedbyT.S.EliotatFaberin1930.HewenttoSpainduringthecivilwar,toIceland(withLouisMacNeice)andlatertravelledtoChina.In1939heandChristopherIsherwoodleftforAmerica,whereAudenspentthenextfifteenyearslecturing,reviewing,writingpoetryandoperalibrettos,andeditinganthologies.HebecameanAmericancitizenin1946,andwasawardedthePulitzerPrizein1948.In1956hewaselectedProfessorofPoetryatOxford,andayearlaterwenttoliveinKirchstetteninAustria,afterspendingseveralsummersonIschia.HediedinViennain1973.JamesFentonwasborninLincolnin1949andeducatedatMagdalenCollege,Oxford,wherehewontheNewdigatePrizeforpoetry.Hehasworkedaspoliticaljournalist,dramacritic,bookreviewer,warcorrespondent,foreigncorrespondentandcolumnist.HeisaFellowoftheRoyalSocietyofLiteratureandwasOxfordProfessorofPoetryfortheperiod1994-99.HispoetrycollectionsincludeChildreninExileandOutofDanger,forwhichhewasawardedtheWhitbreadPrize.HewrotelibrettiforHarounandtheSeaofStories(NewYorkCityOpera)andTsunamiSongCycle(BBCSymphonyOrchestra),andhistheatreincludesPicturesfromanExhibition(YoungVic),andTamar'sRevengeandTheOrphanofZhao(bothfortheRoyalShakespeareCompany).In2007JamesFentonwasawardedtheQueen'sGoldMedalforPoetry.HeiseditorofTheNewFaberBookofLovePoems.YellowTulips:Poems1968-2011waspublishedbyFaber&Faberin2012.JohnFullerwaseducatedatNewCollege,Oxford,andwasformerlyaFellowandTutorinEnglishatMagdalenCollege.Anaward-winningnovelist,hehasalsopublishedsixteenpoetrycollections,themostrecentofwhichisTheSpaceofJoy(2006).HisCollectedPoemsappearedin1996.JohnFullerlivesinOxfordandisaFellowoftheRoyalSocietyofLiterature.
