GINNIEBEDGGOODgraduatedinHistoryfromQueenMaryCollege,UniversityofLondon,andpost-graduatedinPublicandSocialAdministrationfromtheLSE,SouthamptonUniversity,andBrunelUniversity.SheworkedasaprobationofficerinSoho,London,inthe1960sandspentseventeenyearsasasocialworkacademicatBuckinghamshireChilternsUniversityCollege,beforemovingtotheDominicanRepublic.ShehasbeenlivinginPuertoPlata,DominicanRepublicsince1992.SheistheauthorofQuisqueya:MadDogsandEnglishCouple,anarrativethatchartstheearlyadjustmenttohernewsurroundings.ILANABENADYwasborninGibraltar,andstudiedandlivedintheUKformorethanfifteenyears,graduatinginPoliticsandSocialAnthropologyfromtheUniversityofKentatCanterbury.HerworkattheOxfamheadquartersinOxfordtookhertotheDominicanRepublicin1996.Thissetoffachainofeventsthatculminatedinhermovingtherein1999andmarryingDominicanphotographerPedroGuzmán.Afterseveralyearsinthecapital,SantoDomingo,theynowliveinPuntaCanaontheeastcoastwiththeirsonLucas.Ilanaistheco-authorofAuntClara'sDominicanCookbookand100TraditionalDominicanRecipes.
