AlyssaSatinCapucilliwasborninBrooklyn,NewYork,in1957.ShegraduatedfromSarahLawrenceCollege,andpursuedherinterestindance,becomingaprofessionaldanceranddanceinstructor.ThoughCapucillihadwrittenstories,poems,andevenpuppetshowsasachild,shedidn'tconsideracareerasawriteruntilafterherowntwochildrenwereborn.Tothisdaysheseesherselfasbothadancerandawriter,andthetwoprofessionscomplementeachothernicely:dancingis,inherwords,“tellingstoriesinanotherway,”andreadersofherchildren'sbookscanattesttotherhythmofherlanguage.Since1994,shehaswrittenmorethan15booksforchildren,andherworkhasbeentranslatedintoFrench,Hebrew,Afrikaans,Greek,andBulgarian.CapucillilivesinHastings-on-Hudson,NewYork,withherhusbandandchildren.TheyhaveachocolateLabradorretrievernamedHuckleberry,wholikestowatchtheauthoratwork.
