EricD.Danielhasworkedinmagneticrecordingsince1947.HeworkedtenyearswiththeBBCResearchDepartment,threeyearsattheNationalBureauofStandards,twoyearsatAmpex,andtwentyyearsatMemorex.AsDirectorofResearchatMemorex,Mr.Danielworkedonawidevarietyofmagneticrecordingmedia,includingcomputer,instrumentation,videoandaudiotapeproducts,andrigidandflexibledisks.In1979hewaselectedasaFellowofMemorex,andin1982heretiredfromfull-timeemployment.DenisMeeworkedonaudiorecordingforfiveyearsatCBSLaboratories.HethenworkedthirtyyearsatIBMwherehespecializedinadvancedstoragetechnologies,includingmagneto-opticalstorage,magneticrecordingheads,media,andrecordingsubsystemsforcomputerrigiddisks.In1983hewaselectedasanIBMFellow,andin1993heretiredfromIBM.Dr.Meecontinuestorepresentaconsortiumofcompaniessupportingstorageresearchatvariousuniversities.MarkH.ClarkisAssistantProfessorofHistoryintheHumanitiesandSocialSciencesDepartmentatOregonInstituteofTechnology.Anauthorityontheearlyhistoryofaudiomagneticrecording,Dr.Clarkspentthesummerof1996asaFulbrightProfessorattheUniversityofAarhus,DenmarkwhereheresearchedthelifeofValdemarPoulsen.
