作者简介

PatriciaPolaccowasborninLansing,Michiganin1944.Herparentsdivorcedwhenshewasthreebutbothparentswereverymuchapartofherchildhood.ShespentthesummerswithherfatherinWilliamston,Michiganandtherestoftheyearwithhermotherandgrandparentsonafarm.BothfamiliesspentagreatdealoftimesharingstoriesandmemorieswithPatriciaandherolderbrother,Richard.Whenshewasseven,thechildrenmovedwithhermothertoOakland,Californiawhereshestilllives,buttheycontinuedtogoeverysummertoMichigan.Shehadgreatdifficultylearningtoreadbecauseofdyslexia,aconditionaboutwhichverylittlewasknownatthetime,butaseventhgradeteacherdiscoveredherproblemandhelpedherwithit.Onceshecouldread,shereadvoraciously.PatriciaPolaccopublishedherfirstbookin1987.Sheoftenplansoutastorybeforesheputsitdownonpaperandusuallythewordscomebeforetheillustrations.
