NorbertSewaldstudiedChemistryattheTechnicalUniversityofMunich,Germany,wherehealsoobtainedhisPhDdegree.AfterpostdoctoralworkwithJ.E.BaldwininOxford,UK,hebecameanAssitantProfessoratLeipzigUniversity.Since1999heisfullProfessorattheUniversityofBielefeldwhereheholdsthechairinOrganicandBioorganicChemistry.Hismainscientificinterestisinpeptidechemistry,bioactivepeptides.,andtheirapplicationinbiochemistryandmedicalsciences.Hehasauthoredmorethan120publicationsandtogetherwithHans-DieterJakubke,haswrittenthebookPeptidesfromA-Z,alsopublishedbyWiley-VCH.Hans-DieterJakubkestudiedChemistryattheMartin-Luther-UniversityHalle-Wittenberg,Germany.AfterfinishinghisPhDandpostdoctoralworkwithJosefRudingerinPrague(CzeckRepublic),hewasappointedAssistantProfessorattheDepartmentofBiochemistryinHalle,andFullProfessorofBiochemistryattheUniversityofLeipzigin1977.HewasdirectoroftheDepartmentofBiochemistryfrom1993-1997andmemberoftheCounciloftheEuropeanPeptideSocietyfrom1990-1994.Heauthoredseveraltextbooksandencyclopediasonvariousaspectsofchemistryandbiochemistryincludingpeptideresearch.
