LIFEmagazinewasfoundedbyHenryLucein1936andchronicledeveryaspectofthehumanconditionthroughtheendofthe20thcentury.GordonParks(1912-2006)wasoneoftheearlyLifephotographersandamongthemostesteemedphotographersofourtime.Hewasalsoanacclaimedpoet,filmmakerandcomposerwhopublishedseveralbookswithBulfinch,includingtheacclaimedHalfPastAutumn(1997).JohnLoengardisaveteranLIFEphotographerandachroniclerofLIFE'sillustrioushistory.HereceivedtheHenryLuceLifetimeAchievementAwardfor2004fromTime,Inc.
