HanyElsheikhaisanAssociateProfessorofVeterinaryParasitologyatTheSchoolofVeterinaryMedicineandScience,UniversityofNottingham.HeearnedhisPhDinMolecularandEvolutionaryParasitologyfromMichiganStateUniversity,wherehestudiedthegeneticpopulationstructureoftheprotozoanSarcocystisneurona-theagentofequineprotozoalmyeloencephalitisintheAmericas.In2005,hewasawardedtheNationalCenterforInfectiousDiseases,CentersforDiseaseControlandPrevention(CDC)PostdoctoralFellowship.Heistheauthorofmorethan230researchandprofessionalarticlesonparasitepathobiologyandcontrol.HanyistheauthorofoneUSpatentandtwotextbooks.Also,heisadiplomateoftheEuropeanVeterinaryParasitologyCollege(EVPC),amemberofTheEuropeanScientificCounselforCompanionAnimalParasites(ESCCAPUK&Ireland),aFellowoftheRoyalSocietyofPublicHealth(RSPH),andaFellowoftheHigherEducationAcademy(HEA).From2014to2015HanyhasbeentheinauguralSpecialtyChiefEditorofParasitologyinthejournalFrontiersinVeterinaryScience.Heservesontheeditorialboardoffivepeer-reviewedjournalsandisanadhocreviewerofseveraljournals,andnationalandinternationalfundingagencies.Since2007hehasbeenatNottinghamVetwhereheestablishedtheveterinaryparasitologycurriculumfromitsinception.Hanyisalsoaveterinarianbytraining;heobtainedafirstclassdegreewithdistinctioninVeterinarySciencesandMScinVeterinaryParasitologyfromCairoUniversity.Hisresearchfocusesonhost-parasiteinteractionandanti-parasiticdrugdiscovery.
