Dr.ZhaoTingkaiisaprofessorofmaterialsscienceandengineer-ingatNorthwesternPolytechnicalUniversity(NPU)inXi'an,China.HereceivedhisPhDdegreefromXi'anJiaotongUniversity(XJTU,China)in2005andstudiedasapostdoctoralresearchfellowatXJTUfrom2005to2007,andvisitedNorthwesternUniversity(Evanston,USA)andUniversityofOxford(Oxford,UK)asvisitingscholar.Hisresearchgroupmainlyinvestigatesthesynthesis,struc-tureandperformanceofadvancedcarbonmaterialssuchascarbonnanotubes(aspeciallyamorphouscarbonnanotubes),graphene,carbonfoamaswellaspitchmodification,andtheirapplicationsonsolarcell,Iithiumionbattery,electrochemicaldevicesandmilitaryfields.Hehasalsocontributedtotheareaofnon-ferrousmetalshydro-metallurgy.
