作者简介

ThomasMerton(1915-1968)enteredtheCistercianAbbeyofGethsemaniinKentucky,followinghisconversiontoCatholicismandwasordainedFatherM.Louisin1949.Duringthe1960s,hewasincreasinglydrawnintoadialoguebetweenEasternandWesternreligionsanddomesticissuesofwarandracism.In1968,theDalaiLamapraisedMertonforhavingamoreprofoundknowledgeofBuddhismthananyotherChristianhehadknown.ThomasMertonistheauthorofthebelovedclassicTheSevenStoreyMountain.HisHolinessTheDalaiLamaisboththeheadofStateandthespiritualleaderofTibet.
