MUNROLEAF(1905–1976)wasanAmericanwriter,illustrator,andcolumnistwhosebooksforchildrenincludeMannersCanBeFunandHowtoBehaveandWhy(bothofwhichhealsoillustrated).In1936he“dashedoffin25minutes”astoryaboutabullwhopreferredflowerstobullfightsasashowcasefortheartistictalentofhisfriendRobertLawson.TheStoryofFerdinandwentontobecomeabest-sellerandthetwomencollaboratedonthreesubsequentbooks,WeeGillis(1938),TheStoryofSimpsonandSampson(1941),andAesop’sFables(1941).ROBERTLAWSON(1892-1957)wasaprolificwriterandillustratorofliteratureforchildrenandwasthefirstpersonevertoreceiveboththeNewberyandCaldecottmedals.Amonghisforty-oddbooksaresuchclassicstoriesasRabbitHill,BenandMe,andTheyWereStrongandGood.,,,
