EdgarParind’Aulaire(1898—1986)studiedartinGermanyandFranceandapprenticedwithHenriMatisse.InMunich,hemetIngriMortenson(1904—1980),aNorwegian-bornartstudent.Theymarried,emigratedtotheUS,andbeganalongcareertogether,publishingovertwentypicturebooksforchildren.TheirbiographyofAbrahamLincolnwonthe1940CaldecottMedal.TheywereawardedtheReginaMedalfromtheCatholicLibraryAssociationin1970.NewYorkReviewChildren’sCollectionhasrecentlypublishedbothD’Aulaires’BookofNorseMythsandD’Aulaires’BookofTrolls.,,,
