Thephysicalscalemodelisoftencitedasanimportanttoolofcommunicationforarchitecturestudentsandpractitionersalike.AlthoughtheproliferationofCADprogrammeshasenabledthecreationofincreasinglycomplexcomputermodelsandvirtualenvironments,thereisalsoagrowingneedtoaddressthethreedimensionalqualitiesofarchitecturethatmaybelostwhenusingsuchmedia.Thisbookfocusesontheinspiringpossibilitiesformodellingthebuiltenvironmentwithallthedifferentmediaandtechniquesthatarenowavailable.Throughdescriptionoftheuseofdifferentmodelsindifferentcontexts,thebookprovidesapracticalandeffectiveguidetohowandwhymodelsareused,inadditiontowhattheyareusedfor,and,furthermore,howtheyrelatetoarchitectureeducation.Followingabriefintroduction,thebookisdividedintothreesections:Media,TypesandApplications.Thebookisgenerouslyillustratedwithphotographsofmodels,accompanyingcommentaries,andstep-by-steppracticalinstructionsonthevarioustechniquesassociatedwithmodelmaking.ArchitecturalModelmakingwillprovideaconciseyetbroadtoolboxforstudentsofarchitecture.
