马桥(1993-1997年发拙报告)

LocatedattheMinghangDistrictinShanghai(N31~2',E121~23'12"),theMaqiaositewasdiscoveredin1959,andtwopreliminaryexcavationswereconductedin1960and1966.Areportpublishedin1978calledtheculturalremainsequivalenttotheShangandtheZhoudynastiesfromthesiteastheMaqiaoCulture.Largeexcavationsandsurveysresumedinthe1990sascertainedthatthespaceofthesitecoversabout150,000M2.Thisisoneofthelargestandwell-preservedsitesoftheMaqiaoCulture.Fourtimesofexcavationswerecarriedoutbetween1993and1997,coveringanareaabout2,728M2.Twohouseremains,6ashfeaturesand12gravesbelongingtotheLiangzhuCulture;4houseremainswithclustersofpostholes,14wells,143ashfeatures,8ashditches,11concentrationsofpotsherds,2hearthsand4gravesoftheMaqiaoCultureduringtheShangandZhouperiods;1ashfeatureand1graveoftheSpringandAutumnperiod;2ashfeatures,3wellsand1ashditchoftheTangperiod;1ashfeature,1ashditch,and3gravesoftheSongandtheYuanperiodshavebeenfound.Alargenumberofartifactssuchasstonetools,potteryandporcelainwares,boneandantlerimplements,bronzevesselswereunearthed.Manyfaunalremainswerealsofound.Someecofactswerecollectedandanalyzedaswell.Inaddition,humanremainsintombsoftheLiangzhuandtheMaqiaocultureswerecollectedforDNAanalysis.Owingtotheabundantdiscoveries,thisreportprovidesafullandaccurateoverlookabouttheMaqiaoCulture.
