AccordingtothehypothesisproposedbyKarlJaspers，"theaxialperiod"issupposedtorangefromtheeighthcenturyBCtothesecondcenturyBC.Thisperiodoftimewitnessedthebirthofout-standingthinkersinmainlythreeseparatedcradlesofcivilization，i.e.，China，IndiaandGreece.Tomymind，thesethinkersarespiri-tualgeniusespreoccupiedwiththekeyissuesandqueriesrelatedtotheentirecosmosingeneralandtheconditionsofhumanworldinparticular.Theyaddressedsuchissuesandqueriesfrommultiplehorizonsandthusofferedvariedinsights.Inaword，theirpioneer-ingthinkinghasopeneduparichspectrumofideasradiatingovermyriaddomains，andmeanwhilelaiddowntheprimaryfoundationofhumanintelligenceandspiritualityaswell.Mostoftheideasremaineitherrelevantorsignificantindifferentdegreestothestatusquoofthehumanraceacrosstheworld，apartfromalltheothertheoreticalandpracticalarenasinquestion.Theythereforecomposethemostimportantpartofhumanlegacythatappearedasmilestoneseverinhistory.Hence，wetendtorethinkandreflectuponwhattheyhavethoughtandarticulatedatconfrontationwithdiversechallengesandproblemsnowadays.Thisdoesnotmeanwearereadytostepintotheirshoesorstrollalongtheirbeatentrack.Rather，weattempttorediscoverthepossiblerelevanceandinher-entlimitationswithintheirideals，thought-ways，argumentationsandthelike.Naturallyinsodoingweareapttofindoutsomethingmorethaninstructive，inspiringandthought-provokingaboveall.Itisespeciallysowhenweareengagedintransculturalstudiesintheglocalizationalcontextparexcellence.
