LaszloVass,borninBudapestin1946,workedintheHungarianfashionhouseofMagyarDivatintezetasaclicker,closer,shoemaker,anddesignerfrom1964until1969.In1970,havinggainedhisprofessionalshoemakingqualificationhejoinedaprivateworkshopspecializinginhand-madeshoesandladies'bootsasassistantchiefdesignerandshoemaker.In1978VassfoundedhisownworkshopandopenedabusinessinthecentreofBudapest.Since1988heandhis20staffhaveconcentratedontraditionalshoemaking.TodaytheexquisitequalityoftheshoesmadebythefirmofVasshasearnedtheworkshopenormousrespectthroughoutEurope.MagdaMolnar,borninBudapestin1943,studiedEnglishliteratureatBudapestUniversity.Apublisherofartbooks,shewasinitiallychiefexecutiveofHelikonVerlag,andsince1991headofVinceBooks;sheisactiveontheinternationalpublishingscene.MagdaMolnar'sparticularinterestinshoemakingisrootedinherfamilyhistory:hergrandfatherpracticedtheprofessionofshoemakerfor50years,specializinginhandmadeshoesandgentlemen'sboots.
