MortimerJeromeAdler(December28,1902–June28,2001)wasanAmericanphilosopher,educator,andpopularauthor.AsaphilosopherheworkedwithintheAristotelianandThomistictraditions.HelivedforthelongeststretchesinNewYorkCity,Chicago,SanFrancisco,andSanMateo,California.HeworkedforColumbiaUniversity,theUniversityofChicago,EncyclopædiaBritannica,andAdler'sownInstituteforPhilosophicalResearch.Adlerwasmarriedtwiceandhadfourchildren.CharlesLincolnVanDoren(bornFebruary12,1926)isanAmericanintellectual,writer,andeditorwhowasinvolvedinatelevisionquizshowscandalinthe1950s.HeconfessedbeforetheUnitedStatesCongressthathehadbeengiventhecorrectanswersbytheproducersoftheshowTwentyOne.
