Asinhispreviouscritiques,Kantseekstoestablishaprioriprinciples.Thefirstpartofthisworkaddressesaestheticsensibility.Thehumanresponsetospecificnaturalphenomenaasbeautiful,heasserts,isarecognitionofnature'sharmoniousorderthatcorrespondstoamentalneedfororder.Thecritique'ssecondhalffocusesontheapparentteleologyinnature'sdesignoforganisms.Thephilosopherdeclaresthatthemindispredisposedtofindpurposeandorderinnature,andthispredispositionformsthemainprincipleunderlyingallourjudgments.Althoughthiscouldbeinterpretedasanargumentinfavorofacreator,KantinsiststhatasupernaturaldimensionortheexistenceofGodcannotbeproven--suchconsiderationsliebeyondtherealmofreason,solelywithintheprovinceoffaith.,
