ElliotAronsonisProfessorEmeritusattheUniversityofCaliforniaatSantaCruzandoneofthemostrenownedsocialpsychologistsintheworld.In2002,hewaschosenasoneofthe100mosteminentpsychologistsofthetwentiethcentury.Dr.Aronsonistheonlypersoninthe120-yearhistoryoftheAmericanPsychologicalAssociationtohavereceivedallthreeofitsmajorawards:fordistinguishedwriting,distinguishedteaching,anddistinguishedresearch.Manyotherprofessionalsocietieshavehonoredhisresearchandteachingaswell.TheseincludetheAmericanAssociationfortheAdvancementofScience,whichgavehimitshighesthonor,theDistinguishedScientificResearchaward;theAmericanCouncilfortheAdvancementandSupportofEducation,whichnamedhimProfessoroftheYearof1989;theSocietyforthePsychologicalStudyofSocialIssues,whichawardedhimtheGordonAllportprizeforhiscontributionstothereductionofprejudiceamongracialandethnicgroups;andtheWilliamJamesAwardfromtheAssociationforPsychologicalScience.In1992,hewasnamedaFellowoftheAmericanAcademyofArtsandSciences.Acollectionofpapersandtributesbyhisformerstudentsandcolleagues,TheScientistandtheHumanist,celebrateshiscontributionstosocialpsychologicaltheoryanditsapplicationtoreal-worldproblems.Dr.Aronson’sownrecentbooksforgeneralaudiencesincludeMistakesWereMade(butnotbyME),withCarolTavris,andamemoir,NotbyChanceAlone:MyLifeasaSocialPsychologist.TimWilsondidhisundergraduateworkatWilliamsCollegeandHampshireCollegeandreceivedhisPhDfromtheUniversityofMichigan.CurrentlySherrellJ.AstonProfessorofPsychologyattheUniversityofVirginia,hehaspublishednumerousarticlesintheareasofintrospection,attitudechange,self-knowledge,andaffectiveforecasting,aswellasarecentbook,Redirect:TheSurprisingNewScienceofPsychologicalChange.HisresearchhasreceivedthesupportoftheNationalScienceFoundationandtheNationalInstituteforMentalHealth.HehasbeenelectedtwicetotheExecutiveBoardoftheSocietyforExperimentalSocialPsychologyandisaFellowintheAmericanPsychologicalSocietyandtheSocietyforPersonalityandSocialPsychology.In2009,hewasnamedaFellowoftheAmericanAcademyofArtsandSciences.In2015hereceivedtheWilliamJamesFellowsAwardfromtheAssociationforPsychologicalScience.WilsonhastaughttheIntroductiontoSocialPsychologycourseattheUniversityofVirginiaformorethan30years.In2001hewasawardedtheUniversityofVirginiaAll-UniversityOutstandingTeachingAward,andin2010wasawardedtheUniversityofVirginiaDistinguishedScientistAward.RobinAkertgraduatedsummacumlaudefromtheUniversityofCaliforniaatSantaCruz,whereshemajoredinpsychologyandsociology.ShereceivedherPhDinexperimentalsocialpsychologyfromPrincetonUniversity.SheiscurrentlyaProfessorofPsychologyatWellesleyCollege,whereshewasawardedthePinanskiPrizeforExcellenceinTeachingearlyinhercareer.Shepublishesprimarilyintheareaofnonverbalcommunication,andrecentlyreceivedtheAAUWAmericanFellowshipinsupportofherresearch.ShehastaughtthesocialpsychologycourseatWellesleyCollegefornearly30years.SamSommersearnedhisB.A.fromWilliamsCollegeandhisPh.D.fromtheUniversityofMichigan.Since2003hehasbeenafacultymemberintheDepartmentofPsychologyatTuftsUniversityinMedford,Massachusetts.Hisresearchexaminesissuesrelatedtostereotyping,prejudice,andgroupdiversity,withaparticularinterestinhowtheseprocessesplayoutinthelegaldomain.HehaswonmultipleteachingawardsatTufts,includingtheLerman-NeubauerPrizeforOutstandingTeachingandAdvisingandtheGeraldR.GillProfessoroftheYearAward.HewasalsoinductedintotheTuftsHallofDiversityforhiseffortstopromoteaninclusiveclimateoncampusforallstudents.Hehastestifiedasanexpertwitnessonissuesrelatedtoracialbias,jurydecision-making,andeyewitnessmemoryincriminaltrialproceedingsinsevenstates.Hisfirstgeneralaudiencebookonsocialpsychologywaspublishedin2011,titledSituationsMatter:UnderstandingHowContextTransformsYourWorld.Hisnextbook,titledYourBrainonSports,isco-authoredwithL.JonWertheimofSportsIllustratedandwillbepublishedinearly2016.
