AprilJonesPrinceisanauthorandformerchildren'sbookeditorwhoespeciallyloveswritingaboutinspiringmomentsandpeoplefromAmericanHistory.JohnO'Brien(May21,1960–April10,1994)wasanAmericanauthor.HisfirstnovelLeavingLasVegaswaspublishedin1990byWatermarkPressandmadeintoafilmofthesamenamein1995.O'BrienwasborninOxford,Ohio,wherehisparents,BillandJudyO'Brien,werebothstudentsatMiamiUniversity.HewasthebrotherofwriterErinO'Brien.JohngrewupinBrecksvilleandLakewood,Ohio,andgraduatedfromLakewoodHighSchoolin1978.HemarriedLisaKirkwoodin1979;andthecouplemovedtoLosAngeles,California,in1982.Hisfirstnovel,LeavingLasVegas,isdedicatedtoher.Throughafriendofhisex-wife,O'BriengotagigwritingEpisode37oftheanimatedseriesRugrats,“ToysintheAttic”,whichpremieredin1992underhisonlyknownpseudonym,CarrollMine.Accordingtohissister,Erin,hewasunhappywitheditorialchangesmadetohisscript.[1]O'Briencommittedsuicidebygunshottwoweeksafterlearningthathisnovel,LeavingLasVegas,wastobemadeintoamovie.Hisfathersaysthatthenovelwashissuicidenote.Twomoreofhisnovelswerepublishedposthumously:StripperLessons(GrovePress,1997)andTheAssaultonTony's(GrovePress,1996),whichhadbeenleftunfinishedatthetimeofhisdeathandwerecompletedbyhissister,Erin.[1]Athirdmanuscript,Better,waspublishedbyAkashicPressin2009.
