Duringthelastdecadethemethodsofalgebraictopologyhaveinvadedextensivelythedomainofpurealgebra,andinitiatedanumberofinternalrevolutions.Thepurposeofthisbookistopresentaunifiedaccountofthesedevelopmentsandtolaythefoundationsofafull-fledgedtheory.Theinvasionofalgebrahasoccurredonthreefrontsthroughtheconstructionofcohomologytheoriesforgroups,Liealgebras,andassociativealgebras.Thethreesubjectshavebeengivenindependentbutparalleldevelopments.Wepresenthereinasinglecohomology（andalsoahomology）theorywhichembodiesallthree；eachisobtainedfromitbyasuitablespecialization.
