本书内容介绍：From1984to2003,theHubeiProvinceInstituteofCulturalRelicsandArchaeologyandcollaboratinginstitutionscarriedoutfourseasonsofexcavationattheDalupusite,about80,000squaremetersindimension,inYangxinCounty,HubeiProvince.Basedonthelayoutofthesite,excavationswereexecutedintheeastern,western,andnorthernzones,andagreatquantityofNeolithicandBronzeAge(synchronicwithShangandZhouperiodsintheCentralPlaininnorthernChina)materialswereacquired.I.NeolithicMaterialsNeolithicculturalfeaturesofthissiteconsistof:1)the7th-10thlayers,aswellastrashpits,houses(postholes),andfire-placesinthesouthoftheeasternzone;2)the7th-8thlayers,aswellastrashpits,houses(postholes),andfire-placesinthemiddleoftheeasternzone;3)the6th-9thlayersandtrashpitsinthenorthoftheeasternzone;4)the7thlayerinthewesternzone;5)houses(postholes)andtombsinthenorthernzone.Amongtheartifactsfoundatthesite,thereareceramic,stone,bone,copper-basedartifacts,incombinationwithcopperore,furnacefragments,andslag.TheNeolithiccultureofthissite,whichappearstobealoealvariantoftheShijiaheCultureoftheLongshanPeriod,andfallsintotwoperiods(threesub-periods).Datingto4350-4100BP,itoverlapswiththebeginningofthehistoricalXiaDynasty.II.BronzeAgeMaterialsBronzeAgeeuhuralremainsconsistofthissiteconsistof:1)the2nd-6thlayersinthesouthoftheeasternzone;2)the2nd-6thlayersinthemiddleoftheeasternzone;3)the2nd-Sthlayersinthenorthoftheeasternzone;4)the3rd-6thlayersintheweslernzone;5)the2nd4thlayersinthenorthernzone.Inaddition,trashpits,trashtrenches,houses(postholes),stoves(pits),kilns,wells,fireplaces,firedearthdebris,andtombs,andpottery,copper-based,lacqueredwooden,stone,andjadeiteartifactswerefound.TheBronzeAgecultureofthissiteischaracterizedby/i-tripodswithincisedlinesontheirlegs,yahtripodswithapairofclayappliqu6ontheirrims,dou-tureenswithrectangularopenworkontheirstands,andlei-jarswithbird-crown-shapedears,andbird-head-shapedears.SitesofthisculturehavebeenfoundinaareacenteringonDayeandYangxininHubeiProvince,andRuichanginJiangxi,anddeservethenominationofadistinctiveculture--theDalupuCulture,whichpassesthroughfourperiods,intermsofthechronologyofBronzeAgeculturesintheCentralPlain:1)earlylateShang;2)fromlateYinxutoearlyWesternZhou;3)middleWesternZhou;4)fromlateWesternZhoutoearlySpring-Autmnn.TheDatupusiteisrichinsmeltingandmetalworkingremains.Apartfromslag,copperore,andfurnacefragmentsthathavebeenfoundinlargequantities,anumberofartifactsandfeaturesthatarerelatedtocoppersmeltingandcastingoperationswerealsodiscovered.Thestoneanvils,pestles,smelting-relatedfiringpits,malting-relatedurns,andcasting-relatedpottery/stonemoldsprovidefreshdataforthestudyofminingandcastingactivitiesintheYangxinandDayeareasinHubeiProvince,andforthestudyofChineseancientmetallurgy.
