LouisaMayAlcottwasbornon29November1832inPennsylvania.HerfatherwasfriendswithRalphWaldoEmersonandHenryThoreau.Alcottstartedsellingstoriesinordertohelpprovidefinancialsupportforherfamily.HerfirstbookwasFlowerFables(1854).SheworkedasanurseduringtheAmericanCivilWarandin1863shepublishedHospitalSketches,whichwasbasedonherexperiences.LittleWomenwaspublishedin1868andwasbasedonherlifegrowingupwithherthreesisters.Shefolloweditwiththreesequels,GoodWives(1869),LittleMen(1871)andJo'sBoys(1886)andshealsowroteotherbooksforbothchildrenandadults.LouisaMayAlcottwasanabolitionistandacampaignerforwomen'srights.Shediedon6March1888.,,
