HistorianChristopherHibbertwasbornasArthurRaymondHibbertinEnderby,Englandin1924.HedroppedoutofOrielCollegetojointheArmy.HeservedwiththeLondonIrishRiflesandwontheMilitaryCross.Heearnedadegreeinhistoryin1948.Beforebecomingafull-timenonfictionwriter,heworkedasarealestateagentandatelevisioncriticforTruthmagazine.Hewrotemorethan60booksthroughouthislifetimeincludingTheRoadtoTyburn(1957),IlDuce:TheLifeofBenitoMussolini(1962),GeorgeIV:PrinceofWales,1762-1811(1972),andGeorgeIV:RegentandKing,1812-1830(1973).HisworkTheDestructionofLordRaglan(1961)wonaprizefromtheRoyalSocietyofLiterature.HediedfrombronchialpneumoniaonDecember21,2008attheageof84.
