Writtenin1837,JamesWilliams'narrativewasaneffectivetoolforabolitionistswhosoughttoendtheapprenticeshipsystem.ThiseditionofhishistoricmemoiralsocontainstheentiretestimonyfromtheCommissionofInquiry,sponsoredbytheColonialOffice,whichvalidatedthetruthofWilliams'account.
