Molière,(Frenchpronunciation:[mo.lj???];baptisedJanuary15,1622–February17,1673)wasaFrenchplaywrightandactorwhoisconsideredtobeoneofthegreatestmastersofcomedyinWesternliterature.AmongMolière'sbest-knownworksareLeMisanthrope(TheMisanthrope),L'Écoledesfemmes(TheSchoolforWives),TartuffeouL'Imposteur,(TartuffeortheHypocrite),L'Avare(TheMiser),LeMaladeimaginaire(TheImaginaryInvalid),andLeBourgeoisGentilhomme(TheBourgeoisGentleman).莫里哀(Moliere),（1622～1673），法国喜剧作家、演员、戏剧活动家。法国芭蕾舞喜剧的创始人。本名为让-巴蒂斯特.波克兰(JeanBaptistePoquelin)，莫里哀是他的艺名。莫里哀是法国17世纪古典主义文学最重要的作家，古典主义喜剧的创建者，他在欧洲戏剧史上占有十分重要的地位。他曾享受贵族教育，但不久就宣布放弃世袭权力，从事戏剧事业。他创立“光耀剧团”，惨淡经营，曾因负债而被指控入狱。后来，他不顾当时蔑视演戏的社会风气和家庭的反对，毅然离家出走，在外飘流了十多年。由于他积累了丰富的生活素材，编写演出了一系列很有影响的喜剧。
