Onacrispwinter’sdayinGlenwoodCanyon,Colorado,ArtDailysufferedaterribletragedy.Whiledrivinghomewithhisfamilyfromayouthhockeygame,alargeboulderdislodgedfromthecanyonwallandstrucktheircar,killinghiswifeandtwosons–whileleavinghiminexplicablyuntouched.Inoneinstant,Art’sentirelifecrumbled,leavinghimfeelingutterlyalone.Asfamily,friends,andtheentireAspencommunityrushedintooffercomfortandsupport,Artfacedwhatheimaginedtobeableakandlonelyfuture.Butwhathefoundsurprisedhim:thehealingpowerofastranger’sgrace.ThatstrangerwasAllison,atwenty-eight-year-oldTexanwhohadstoppedinAspenonherwaytoanewlife.Allisonwasawomanstrugglingwithherowngrieffollowingherolderbrother’ssuicideandtheendofhermarriage.WhensheheardofArt’stragedy,shefeltcompelledtoreachouttohim,apersonwhomshehadnevermetbutwithwhomsheidentifieddeeply.ArtandAllisonforgedaclosefriendship,tendingtoeachother’swoundsandeventuallyfallinginloveandstartingafamily.Andthroughitall,thelivingmemoryofArt’swifeandsonsguidedandcomfortedthem.OutoftheCanyonistheinspiringstoryofhowtwopeoplefoundthecouragetomoveonafterprofoundheartbreak.ArtandAllisonteachusthatitisnotonlypossibletolivethroughsuchturmoil,buttoembracelifeanew.And,withhumilityandunderstanding,theyofferdirectinsightandadviceonwhattrulyhelpedthemdealwithirreversiblechangeandhowwecandothesame.FromtheHardcoveredition.
