长江三峡工程围堰蓄水期(2003～2006年)水文泥沙观测简要成果(英文版--Summary of Field Data for ……)

TheThreeGorgesProject（TGP）isakeybackboneprojectforthefloodcontrol，navigationandwaterresourcesdevelopmentoftheYangtzeRiver．TheTGPiSlocatedatSandouping，nearYichangCityofHubeiProvince，intheXilingGorgeoftheThreeGorgesreachonthetrunkoftheYangtzeRiver．Itis40kmupstreamoftheGezhoubaDam．TheThreeGorgesReservoirisdesignedtohaveanormalpoollevelof175mabovesealevelwithacorrespondingaggregatedstoragecapacityof39．3billionm3，andafloodcontrollevelof145mwithafloodcontrolcapacityof22．15billionm3．ItwillbeofgreatsignificancetothefloodcontroleffortsinthemiddlereachesoftheYangtzeRiver．ThetotalinstalledcapacityoftheTGPwillbe18．2GWandtheaverageannualoutputwillbe84．7billionkW·h．Thenavigationconditionswillbeimprovedintheentire600kmlongchannelinthereservoirarea．TheconstructionoftheTGPbeganin1993，andthefirststagecofferdamwasclosedin1997whichcutouttheYangtzeRiverandmadeitflowthroughadiversionchannelexcavatedearlieraroundthedamsite．TheTGPbeganitsimpoundmentonJune1，2003，withthemaindamandthecofferdamontheright-bank．OnJune10，2003，thewaterlevelatthedamwasraisedfromtheoriginal70m（approx．）to135mabovesealevel．Inthesamemonth；thefive-stepshiplockbegantrialoperation．InJulythesameyear，theoutputfromthefirstturbineunitwassynchronizedtothenationalpowergrid．Fromthenon，theThreeGorgesReservoirwasoperatedforpowergenerationandnavigation．TheupstreampartofthethirdstagecofferdamwasremovedinJune，2006．Sincethen，thereservoirwaterhasbeenretainedbytheTGPDamonitsown．OnSeptember20，thepoollevelbegantoriseandfinallyreached155．68mabovesealevelonOctober28，withacorrespondingaggregatedstoragecapacityof23．3billionm3．TheperiodbetweenJune，2003andAugust，2006isreferredtoastheCOfierdamimpoundmentperiod．
