Thisbookiscomposedoftwoparts:PartI（Chaps.Ithrough3）isanintroductiontotensorsandtheirphysicalapplications，andPartII（Chaps.4through6）introducesgrouptheoryandintertwinesitwiththeearliermaterial.Bothpartsarewrittenattheadvanced-undergraduate/beginninggraduatelevel，althoughinthecourseof'PartIIthesophisticationlevelrisessomewhat.Thoughthetwopartsdiffersomewhatinflavor，lhaveaimedinbothtofilla（perceived）gapintheliteraiurebyconnectingthecomponentformalismsprevalentinphysicscalculationstotheabstractbutmoreconceptualformulationsfoundinthemathliterature.Myfirmbeliefisthatweneedtoseetensorsandgroupsincoordinatestogetasenseofhowtheywork，butalsoneedanabstractformulationtounderstandtheiressentialnatureandorganizeourthinkingaboutthem.
