Guidelines for Applying Protected Area Managment

IUCN’sProtectedAreasManagementCategories，whichclassifyprotectedareasaccordingtotheirmanagementobjectives，aretodayacceptedasthebenchmarkfordefining，recording，andclassifyingprotectedareas.TheyarerecognizedbyinternationalbodiessuchastheUnitedNationsaswellasmanynationalgovernments.Asaresult，theyareincreasinglybeingincorporatedintogovernmentlegislation.TheseguidelinesprovideasmuchclarityaspossibleregardingthemeaningandapplicationoftheCategories.TheydescribethedefinitionoftheCategoriesanddiscussapplicationinparticularbiomesandmanagementapproaches.
