¡¡¡¡Thispast2020wasayearunlikeanyother.TheCOVID-19pandemichasclaimedmorethan2.7millionlivesandcausedmajoreconomic£¬trade£¬andinvestmentdownturnsandprofoundchangesacrosstheglobe.In2021£¬theworldseeshopeofrecoveryandastrongercallforcooperation£¬ascountriesrampupanti-pandemicandvaccinationeffortsandbegintobounceback.Asianeconomies£¬an\"anchor\"formultilateralism£¬playakeyroleinbolsteringglobalpandemiccontrol£¬keepingindustriesandsupplychainsefficientandstable£¬andpromotingtradeandinvestment.¡¡¡¡In2020£¬facingtheonce-in-a-centuryCOVID-19pandemicandthefirsteconomicshrinkin60years£¬Asianeconomiesstoodunitedandwerethefirstintheworldtoemergefromthepandemicandreopen.In2020£¬Asia\'sshareintheglobaleconomyincreasedto47.3%1asthecontinentworkedtogetherforgreaterintegrationandregionalcooperation.OtherdevelopmentsinAsiaincludeever-increasingtradeintegration£¬retainedregionalcentersintheglobalvaluechain£¬strengtheningservicetradesbetweenregionaleconomies£¬andthefast-trackgrowthofdigitaltradesduringthepandemic.TheseinteractionsandcollaborationshavehelpedAsiarespondeffectivelytothepandemicandtheeconomicchallenges.¡¡¡¡In2021withtheCOVID-19beingbroughtundercontrolworldwide£¬economicrecoveryinAsiawillpickupspeedandtheemergingeconomiesintheregionasawholeareexpectedtoleadotherpartsoftheworldingrowthrate.Post-pandemiceconomicdevelopmentinAsiawillbedistinguishedbystrongerintegrationofintra-regionaltradeingoods£¬tradeinservices£¨withdigitaltradeasamajorcontributor£©£¬directinvestments£¬andfinancialmarketsandgreaterinfrastructureinter-connectivity.TheRegionalComprehensiveEconomicPartnership£¨RCEP£©comingintoeffectatanearlydate£¬togetherwithotherregionalfree-tradeagreementssuchastheComprehensiveandProgressiveAgreementforTrans-PacificPartnership£¨CPTPP£©£¬willbuildabroadandstronginstitutionalfoundationforliberalizingandfacilitatingtradeandinvestmentwithinthecontinent.Thealignmentbetweenvariousregionalorevenglobalinter-connectivityprograms-theBeltandRoadInitiative£¨BRI£©£¬MasterPlanonASEANConnectivity2025£¬andEurasianEconomicUnion£¬forexample-providesignificantimpetusforregionaltradeandeconomiccooperationandpost-pandemiceconomicrecoveryanddevelopment.
