¡¡¡¡2018markedthe40thanniversaryofChina\'sreformandopening-upandsawtremendousprogressonsocialismwithChinesecharacteristicsinthenewera.Theattractionofforeigndirectinvestment£¨FDI£©servesasapillarofChina\'sopening-up.Overthepast40years£¬Chinahasstayedthecourseofopening-upasbasicstatepolicy£¬drivenreformandprogressthroughopening-up£¬seizedthehistoricopportunitiesoftheglobalmanufacturingshiftandactivelyandeffectivelyattractedFDI.TheseactionshaveinturnspurredtherobustandrapiddevelopmentofChina\'seconomyandhavelaidasolidfoundationforachievingChina\'sambitiousdevelopmentagenda.¡¡¡¡Overthepast40years£¬ChinahasremainedcommittedtofurtherimprovingtheinvestmentclimatewhileactivelyandeffectivelyattractingFDIinaccordancewithitsdevelopmentstrategiesandobjectivesatdifferentstages.InboundFDIhasgrown£¬withtheannualrealizedFDIincreasingfromUSD920millionin1983toUSD138.31billionby2018;thisrepresentsanearly150-foldincreaseora15.4%annualgrowthrate£¬5.7percentagepointshigherthantheaveragegrowthrateofworldwidecross-borderFDIinthesameperiod.Assuch£¬ChinahasbeenaninspiringsuccessstoryintermsofboththesizeandgrowthofFDIthatthecountryhasattracted.Ithasremainedthenumberonedeveloping-countryrecipientofFDIfor27consecutiveyearssince1992andisthesecond-highestrecipientgloballyoverthepast13years.In2018£¬Chinaaccountedfor¡¡¡¡10.7%oftheworld\'stotalFDIinflows.Bytheendof2018£¬atotalof961£¬000foreigninvestedenterprises£¨FIEs£©hadbeenestablishedinChinawithUSD2.1trillioninpaidinFDI.ThemixofFDIinChinaisincreasinglyoptimizedandnowcoversvirtuallyallsectorsandregionsacrosseastern£¬centralandwesternChina.
