SpikeMilliganwasbornin1918toaBritishmilitaryfamilyintheRaj.YoungSpikefoughttheNazisinEuropebeforebeinginvalidedout.Afterthewar,hewroteandperformedthroughoutthe'50sinTheGoonShow,withPeterSellersandHarrySecombe.Inthe'60shehadsuccessasastageandfilmactor.FrailbutstillactiveintohisEighties,hisone-manshowswerealwayssell-outevents.In1992hewasmadeanhonoraryCBE,andin2000and2001hereceivedtwoLifetimeAchievementAwards:forwritingandforcomedy.SpikeMilligandiedin2002.AlexanderGameswascomedycriticoftheEveningStandardforsixyearsandistheauthorofPete&Dud:AnIllustratedBiographyandBackingintotheLimelight:TheBiographyofAlanBennett.
