作者简介






PaulR.Halmos，20世纪世界著名的数学家。1938年于伊利诺伊大学获得数学博士学位。曾在许多大学任职，其中包括芝加哥大学，密歇根大学和印第安纳大学。Halmos以他在许多数学领域的研究著称于世，其中包括：泛函分析，遍历理论，测度论，布尔代数理论等。除本书外，还著有Finite-DimensionalVectorSpaces，MeasureTheory，ProblemsForMathematiciansYoungAndOld，IWanttoBeAMathematician,这些著作早已成为经典名著，至今仍在印刷出版。他对数学的很多领域保持着浓厚的兴趣，对于数学的主要进展十分关注，这显示出他作为一位数学家的地位，远超出狭窄的工匠之上。这位伟大的数学家及数学教育家于2006年10月在美国逝世，享年90岁。
