SharonRobinsonisanAmericansongwriter,recordproducer,andvocalist.SheisbestknownasafrequentwritingcollaboratorwithLeonardCohen,althoughshehaswrittensongsforanumberofotherartistsaswell,includingAaronNeville,DianaRoss,DonHenley,RandyCrawford,RobertaFlack,TheTemptationsandothers.Sheexcelledinschoolaswell,andasaNationalMeritsemi-finalistsheearnedascholarshiptoSalemCollegeinWestVirginia.Halfwaytoherdegree,moneyandmusicprovedastrongerdraw,sosheleftschooltofrontatouringTop-40bandforseveralyears.Burnoutontheroadbroughtherbacktocollege;thistimetotheCaliforniaInstituteoftheArtstostudymusic.Shetouredasback-upsingerforCohenin1979and1980,andthenagainin2008,2009and2010.Theycollaboratedonwritinghismuchacclaimedsongs"EverybodyKnows"and"WaitingfortheMiracle",releasedin1988and1992respectively.In2001sheco-wrote,produced,arrangedandperformedthebackingtracks(aswellasappearingalongsideCohenonthecover)forhisalbumTenNewSongs.RobinsonalsocontributedtothreetracksonCohen's2004albumDearHeather,andduettedwithCohenon"TheLetters".ShewasawardedaGrammyin1985forthesong"NewAttitude"(fromBeverlyHillsCopsoundtrack),recordedbyPattiLaBelle.In2004,SharonRobinsongaveafull-lengthinterviewdiscussingherlife,careerandworkwithLeonardCohen(availableonhersite).In2005,Robinson'snewsong"TheHighRoad"wasperformedbyBettyeLaVetteonheralbumI'veGotMyOwnHelltoRaise,whichwaspickedas#59atAmazon'sbestof2005Editor'spicks.Robinson'srecentworkalsoincludesthesongswrittenforChrisBotti.SharonRobinsononstagewithLeonardCohenduringconcertatEdinburghCastle,16July2008In2008,RobinsonreleasedherdebutsoloalbumEverybodyKnows,whichincludesthreesongssheco-wrotewithCohen:"AlexandraLeaving,""EverybodyKnows,"and"Summertime",theirfirstcollaboration,originallyrecordedbyDianaRossforher1987albumRedHotRhythm&Blues.Thesetalsoincludes"TheHighRoad",and6newtrackswrittenbyRobinson.OnOctober27,2008,VibrantRecordsreleasedEverybodyKnowsintheUnitedKingdomandEurope,replacingtheoriginalartworkfromLeonardCohenwithaphotoofRobinson.InFebruary2009,VibrantRecordscloseditsdoorsduetothebankruptcyofitsdistributorPinnacle.InApril2009,UKlabelFreeworldRecordsre-releasedEverybodyKnowsinEuropewiththeoriginalLeonardCohendrawncoverart.Sharonself-releasedthealbumintheU.S.
