RobertAnsonHeinleinwaseducatedattheUniversityofMissouriandtheU.S.NavalAcademy.Afterservingasanavalofficerforfiveyears,heretiredforhealthreasonsandbeganpublishingSFin1939.ConsideredthedeanofAmericanSFwriters,HeinleinwaslovedandemulatedduringthehalfcenturythathewroteSF.Hewrotedozensofnovelsandshortstories,includingDoubleStar,StrangerinaStrangeLand,andTheMoonisaHarshMistress,allofwhichwonHugoAwards.HeinleinwastherecipientoftheFirstGrandMasterNebulain1975,andhewastheguestofhonoratthreeWorldSFConventions:in1941,1961,and1976.Hehasrepeatedlybeenvoted"bestall-timeauthor"inreaders'polls.RobertA.Heinleinpassedawayin1988.
