Thereisdisturbingevidenceofhighmortalityofsalmonatsea.Theneedforamultidisciplinarystudyofcontributingfactorsandappropriateactionhasbeenadvocatedforsometime.Asaresult,theAtlanticSalmonTrust,organisedaworkshopunderthechairmanshipofDerekMillstoredressthissituation,bringingtogetherclimatologists,oceanographers,planktonologistsandmarineandsalmonbiologiststoclarifyanddiscusstheenvironmentalandbiologicalissuesaffectingsurvival.Proposalsareputforwardforfurtherresearchandcollaboration.
