RichardJollyisadevelopmenteconomistandhonoraryprofessorandresearchassociateoftheInstituteofDevelopmentStudiesattheUniversityofSussex,wherehewasdirectorinthe1970s.HeworkedfortheUNasanAssistantSecretary-Generalforalmost20years:from1982-95asdeputyexecutivedirectorforprogramsofUNICEFandfrom1996-2000asspecialcoordinatorofUNDP’sHumanDevelopmentReport.AfterleavingtheUN,hewasfor10yearsco-directoroftheUNIntellectualHistoryProjectandco-authorofthesummaryvolume,UNIdeasThatChangedtheWorld.Hiscareerhascombineddevelopmentaction,researchandteaching,fortheUN,forgovernments,andforuniversities.Hehasworkedasaneconomistinsomedozencountriesandwrittenoreditedsome20books,notablyonredistributionwithgrowth,adjustmentwithahumanface,disarmamentanddevelopment.HewasknightedbytheQueenin2001forhiscontributionstointernationaldevelopment.
